The Gold Guide to Pretty Heart Jewelry

Long before the invention of the American Dollar, the Indian Rupee, or the British Pound, another form of currency was used by people around the world. Do you know what it was? It was gold, and it was a timeless way to denote how rich and powerful a person was. It is both heavy and rare, and it has been used as a status symbol throughout the years. This is our free gold guide to beautiful heart jewelry. We hope that you enjoy this journey into the incorporation of gold into our beautiful jewelry items.

Gold is one of our most valuable and precious metals. It is also very malleable and soft. Did you happen to know that? A mere ounce of the stuff can be stretched into a fine wire about 5 miles long. If you were to pound that same ounce of gold, it would form a thin sheet that could cover 100 square feet. It won't corrode or rust, so it will last almost indefinitely. It is also all around us. It is in our seas and rivers and bodies of water. It is in the crust of the earth that is beneath our feet. It is also in our plant life. Unfortunately, it is very hard to locate and extract, so it is very expensive as well. It takes about 2.5 to 3 tons of gold ore in order to make 1oz of pure gold.

Jewelry's Most Popular Metal

The most popular metal in the modern jewelry of today is gold. More specifically, You can find many different forms of heart jewelry that use gold. In terms of one single jewelry item, it is without a doubt the "simple gold wedding band" (since weddings are so popular). As we mentioned, gold is malleable and soft, it can't really be utilized in its pure form. It must be mixed with other metals in order to make it more strong and durable. Do you know what combining two or more metals is called? The resulting metal is called an alloy, and most of the gold that we use in our jewelry today is found in the form of an alloy. What types of gold jewelry are there you ask? Consider:
(1) 18k gold jewelry,
(2) 14k gold jewelry,
(3) Indian gold jewelry,
(4) White gold jewelry,
(5) Gold jewelry,
(6) 24k gold jewelry,
(7) Rose gold jewelry,
(8) Gold body jewelry,
(9) Wholesale gold jewelry,
(10) Gold charm jewelry,
(11) 22k gold jewelry,
(12) Gold horse jewelry,
(13) Gold plated jewelry,
(14) Other cool gold jewelry items.

Do you know where the word karat comes from? It is derived from the word for the fruit of the carob tree. Here are some derivations: in Arabic we have qirat, in Greek we have keration, and in Italian the word carato. You see, the seeds of the carob tree's fruit were used in ancient times for measuring precious gems. Since the pure gold Byzantine coin (called the solidus by the way) weighed 24 karats, the 24 karat mark (24 KT or 24K) became the symbol used to indicate that an item was pure gold.

Which is Which: Karats or Carats?

When we talk about gold we often hear the term carat (or karat). Bugs bunny preferred to be paid in carrots, but that is another item all together. When you are paid in carats, well, then you are really talking about some major money. In jewelry terms, the carat has a double meaning. It is used as a measurement of weight for gemstones (one carat is usually equivalent to 1/5 gram), but in some countries it can also be used to denote the amount of pure gold in a piece of gold jewelry. In the United States, when we want to indicate the gold content rather than the weight, we use a "k", such as "karat", to avoid any confusion that may arise.

24K gold (at least in most instances) is too soft to be used in jewelry. In some regions of the world they prefer to use 18K or 20K because (A) of its brighter yellow color and (B) for the simple fact that it is closer to being pure 24K gold. In the United States 14K or 18K is preferred above the others because it is more durable.

Gold 990

There is a new alloy on the way that we should mention. Gold 990 is an alloy of pure gold and only a small amount of titanium. This means you have almost pure gold, with greatly increased durability. This alloy is of "straw color", and is similar to the look of 14K gold, so those looking for that 24K gold look should look further. Still, if you are looking for a way to have "almost pure" gold and better durability, this alloy may suit you great.

This brings us to the question "In order for something to be called gold, how many carats must the item be?" The rules for this vary, depending upon the country. In the United States, in order for an item to be called "gold" it has to be at least 10K. In France and Italy it must be 18K, while in Canada and England the number is 9K.

Is All Gold Yellow?

Gold is mostly associated with the color yellow, but not all gold is yellow. Why is this? For starters, pure 24K gold is always yellow in color. As mentioned earlier, since pure gold is too soft and malleable for jewelry use, and since countries have different standards for what "gold" means, you can change the color of "gold" by exchanging the alloys that you happen to add to it. Here's the formula: Yellow gold is made up of gold, copper and silver. Green gold is made up of gold, silver, copper, and zinc. White gold is comprised of gold, nickel, silver, zinc, palladium and platinum. Pink (or red) gold is composed of gold, copper, and sometimes a tiny amount of silver.

Ever Heard of Underkarating?

There is one more thing that we should talk about before we leave this subject of carats and karats. When you are purchasing a piece of jewelry you should be concerned about underkarating. This is a serious problem in many areas around the world, so be sure to purchase your jewelry from a reliable jewelry store or reliable jewelry outlet. Underkarating means that although the jewelry item is marked to indicate a certain amount of jewelry content it can contain less than the amount indicated. Jewelers who sell underkarated jewelry will sometimes boast about the fact that you are "getting a bargain" In actuality you are not getting anything of the sort. Since the jewelry item they are selling you contains less gold and more alloy than what is indicated, what kind of a bargain is that? As always, the buyer must beware. Only purchase jewelry items from reliable sources.

What is the Manufacturer's Registered Trademark?

You should always look for a manufacturer's registered trademark on any gold jewelry item you purchase. It is located near the karat mark, and manufacturers take this trademark very seriously. In addition, as more and more jewelers get concerned about being held liable, they are willing to only purchase jewelry items from manufacturers who are willing to stand by what they sell. This trademark can be traced back to the very people who made this jewelry, and their reputation is on the line. They won't dare mess up in this particular area.

How To Resolve Skin Discoloration

Have you noticed that sometimes you have skin discoloration when you wear jewelry? Why is that? It is not the pure gold that is causing this. Pure gold does not tarnish, and as a result will not discolor the skin. It is the alloys that are added to the pure gold that are causing this discoloration effect. This happens mostly under moist or damp conditions. These alloys mix with the fatty acids that are present in your perspiration, and this can set up a corrosive reaction. This problem can be even worse in those areas where there is salt in the air, so if you plan a trip to the beach with your gold jewelry...beware.

Oh and one more thing we should talk about. Metallic abrasion that is caused by some makeup is another common cause of discoloration. Some makeup contains compounds that are actually harder than the jewelry in which they are coming into contact with? Did you know that? As these compounds rub and grind against the jewelry you are wearing they can cause some of the gold to flake off. The result is a dark looking "dust". When this "dust" makes contact with your sweaty skin, a black smudge is what is left over.

And The Solution Is?

Now that we have identified the problem, what is the solution to discoloration resulting from jewelry? You need to get into the habit of removing the jewelry often and washing the skin that it is coming into contact with. Plain soap and water is the preferred solution. Oh and remember to keep your jewelry clean as well. You should wipe the jewelry periodically with a nice soft cloth to remove any tarnish that may "build up". It might also be a good idea to use a body powder that is free of abrasions on all areas of your skin that will be in contact with the jewelry you wish to wear.

Why not check and see if a similar piece of jewelry is available from another manufacturer? You may find that one jewelry item causes discoloration while a similar looking one does not. This doesn't necessarily mean that one piece is inferior to another mind you. Jewelry manufacturers often use different alloys (or different combinations of alloys) in jewelry development. Although the pieces may look the same, one piece of jewelry may cause discoloration while another may not.

You know, you can always switch to a more pure form of gold jewelry. This could resolve the problem. After all, it is these alloys that are causing the problem, and if you move more in the direction of pure gold...problem solved.

Getting A 21st Century Education

Introduction

The current practice of today's generation looks at different lifestyles that one would like to follow suit. Usually, the lifestyle models are successful philanthropists who seem to find money on trees; literally. There is definitely a charm that endears a financially free lifestyle. However, most people consider financial freedom as a dream that is impossible to realize.

Unfortunately, this sad pessimism to life is the norm rather than the exception. We go about our days and years thinking that we can never be free from our debts or from the weight of different bills and cost. We continue to live our lives knowing this sad thought. Yet this idea cannot be further from the truth. Acquiring a new perspective, philosophy, and practice that reflects an optimistic view of our financial health is the heart of 21st Century Education

Defining 21st Century Education

The revolutionary yet simple mindset offered by this kind of education centres on the possibility of wealth creation and living a financially independent lifestyle. While this is the ideal result of a person who fully understands the heart of this kind of education, getting it is not easy. However, the standard is worth the investment. The sudden change of perspective will not only change our lives but will also change how we look into the different trends today.

Getting a 21st Century Education

The value of this kind of education hinges on certain learning components to help people make money instead of people working for money. The main goal is to create new methods to create wealth far removed from the standard wealth creating practices. While the wealth creation involves making opportunities, this concept finds new ways to make opportunities from a different standard ahead of our time.

The principle teaches financial rationality removed from our emotional decisions. It states that consciousness in making financial decisions is a function of how we react to different circumstances. By doing, the smart move despite what our emotions tell us, we are able to develop a way to control the way we react to events.

This concept also involves looking at the same thing differently. This enhances our problem solving skills as we think of creative ways to conclude different tasks. As an example, there are different ways to peel a banana yet we end up peeling bananas in the most common way. Sometimes, we readily see different solutions to a problem. However, we still insist on the standard solution. This principle breaks traditional problem solving methods in order to force us to be creative.

This kind of education also emphasizes the value of efficient communication, negotiation, and priorities in fast times. These skills will help us enhance our skills to turn ideas into reality. With efficient communication methods, we can readily converse with different people and share our profitable ideas. Having an idea is one thing, while applying it with good communication and negotiation skills is critical. Remember, everyone has ideas while making ideas work is not for everyone.

The concept hinges on a system of results, purpose, and action. While this principle is not new, the new perspective brought about by this kind of education tackles this system differently. A result focused, purpose driven, and action oriented persons are usually the successful people. This kind of education is the product of developing these traits.

Finally, financial freedom and getting a 21st Century Education involves planning a positive framework for your life. In the end, this is not about the value of money. Instead, it is the manifestation of our happiness. Having a list of priorities that will make you happy will give you an overview and a viable life structure. This is a holistic approach to financial freedom and designing our lives to help us live up to our potential. While getting a 21st Century Education is an investment, it is definitely what everyone needs.

Electric Stairlifts Provide Mobility And Safety

For most of us, simply climbing and descending the stairs in our home is something we take for granted; often we give little or no thought at all to the endless trips we make up and down on a daily basis. But for those for whom the stairs are a physical challenge, the prospect of walking up or down must be approached with caution and considerable thought. Subsequently, in the event of a decline in physical fitness – due to illness, injury, or age – electric stairlifts can make the impossible possible again.

Electric stairlifts are comprised of a swivel seat that allows users to easily sit down. With one simple touch of a button, the seat travels up or down the stairs along a track. Such a system can be used indoors as well as outdoors and tracks can be manipulated to accommodate straight or curved stairways.

Battery operated stairlifts do exist – and can be helpful should the power go out. But the disadvantage of battery stairlifts is that batteries must be frequently recharged – a process that takes a bit of time. In general, electric stairlifts are far more reliable, as you never have to worry about the batteries dying – or purchasing expensive new batteries. Although experts agree that you should always have batteries on hand should the power go out and the stairlift becomes inoperable.

There are a number of electric stairlifts for purchase through reputable companies nationwide. Use online resources in order to find the system that works for your home and budget. Once you make a choice, the company will come in and professionally install the system on the stairs of your choice.

Electric stairlifts are meant to make stairs accessible and convenient for those who have physical limitations. With proper planning, you can have a professionally installed stairlift in your home, making life that much easier to manage.

A Little Known Fact When Quitting Smoking And How To Stay Quit

Have you ever gotten yourself in a situation where you have quitted smoking for perhaps 1, 2 or 3 weeks, sometimes even months or years only to find yourself crawling back to square one as it if it was a snake and ladder board game?

You find yourself picking up the cigarette and lighting it away again? I have to admit. I did. That is because I was lacking of something, of which I had to learn the hard way. And maybe this is perhaps why I am sharing my experience with you so you could avoid this mistake in the future.

I’m sure you would know that most of time, smokers use the excuse of “releasing stress” to smoke. For some reason, this “release stress” has become a reality which in fact is not. The only reason you feel relaxed are due to the soothing of the nicotine addiction. The fact is... you do not need cigarettes in your life!

The problem: Many have associated cigarettes can actually release stress that it became the truth.

The solution for this is, not only must you quit smoking, you must also:

Find The Alternatives For Relaxation And To Release Stress!

When you have established this simple concept, you are more capable of handling stress from other methods rather than turning back to the dark side of the road.

Among the ways of alternatives for relaxation and releasing stress are:

• Exercise
Somehow people get turn off this word alone. By nature, did you know that our human body needs exercise regularly at least twice a week? But somehow in this modernize world, exercise is deemed uncommon. My personal favorite is swimming. It really relaxes me to the full potential and enables me to get a good night sleep without disturbance.

• Meditation

• Take A Hot Bath
Pamper yourself by taking a hot bath with light music at the background at dim lights.

Factors to consider when buying hearing aids

There are a number of factors to consider when buying hearing aids. Below is a list of seven factors to consider:

Severity of hearing loss

This is one of the most important factors to consider is the nature and severity of your hearing loss. Your hearing professional can help you understand your unique loss characteristics, and explain the models that would best suit your needs. This may involve undertaking a number of hearing test to determine the extent of the hearing loss and most suitable product.

Lifestyle

It is important to think about you lifestyle and when the hearing aid is to be worn. What are the things you do that are most affected by hearing loss? Does you hearing prevent you from undertaking certain tasks or activities? Does you loss of hearing effect your job? Discuss your needs with the hearing expert who can recommend products which suit your lifestyle
.
Technology

The quality of the sound is perhaps the most important consideration. With advancements of digital hearing aids the quality of the sound can often be fined tuned to suit your needs. Again the hearing expert will be able to help you assess the level of sophistication you need based on a range of issues.

Size

Hearing aids are now often very small and discreet. However, if your eyesight or dexterity is less than what they used to be, size may indeed matter. As a vey small hearing aid may be to fiddly to control. Alternatively, some new instruments adjust automatically or via remote control.

Appearance

Hearing aids now come in a variety of sizes, from tiny, completely-in-the-canal models to those that sit behind the ear. Many people are overly concerned about appearance, and it’s wise to remember that others will be far less aware of your aid than you. Most hearing aids are quite discreet. Consider the functionality and improvement in hearing, rather than just appearance.

The ear

The size and shape of your outer ear and ear canal may also influence your selection of a hearing aid. For example, if your canal is extremely narrow, in-the-canal aids may not work for you. Your hearing professional will help determine which hearing aid options are appropriate for you.

One ear or two ears?

Two ears are better than one, since binaural, or two-ear hearing, is what helps us determine where sounds are coming from, and to distinguish between competing sounds more easily. If you have a hearing loss in only one ear, you may be fine with one hearing aid. Age- and noise-related hearing loss tend to affect both ears, but your hearing profile for each ear is probably different. If there is a loss in both ears, then you will benefit more with a binaural approach. In addition, some of the benefits of digital technology require two hearing aids.

Today, about two-thirds of new purchasers opt for dual hearing aids, and as a group, they report a higher level of satisfaction than purchasers of a single aid. Discuss the pros and cons with your hearing professional.

Alcoholic Vs Problem Drinker!

Drink alone cannot turn someone into an alcoholic if they don't have the mindset of a 'true' drunk. Someone exposed to, and participating in, daily drinking might well form a bad habit and develop a drink problem, but that doesn't mean they are, or will go on to become, a full blown alcoholic who is heavily addicted to ethyl alcohol.

Someone with a drink problem may well identify their malady and do something about when the time is right.

An alcoholic, on the other hand, denies he even has a drinking problem and may never do anything about it despite all the physical, emotional, and mental trauma it causes for him and those around him.

A person with a drink problem may be a well-adjusted individual whose life is fulfilled, balanced and functions perfectly well all apart from the drink issue.

The alcoholic's life is often one of imbalance, extreme behaviours and mood swings. He most likely has experienced a number of failed relationships, and has a pessimistic attitude and outlook on life in general.

The problem drinker will stop drinking, though begrudgingly, if a doctor instructs him to for the sake of his health and well being, or a partner threatens to leave him should he continue.

The alcoholic will shoot down any doctor's opinion ranting on about how he doesn't know what he's talking about. Many alcoholics drink until they die simply because they won't, or can't accept the help and advice of others. Full blown alcoholics will often choose the bottle over the spouse if given an ultimatum

As you can probably tell from the above, the alcoholic comes across as a self centered know-it-all. A person who's deep in denial, and has difficulty living a life on life's terms. Such a conclusion tells us that the alcoholic personality is egotistical to the extreme, and nothing or nobody will get in the way of their drinking no matter what! A lot of alcoholics tend to have a self destruct button, but sadly they often take victims with them as their life spirals downwards.

Most of us will most probably know of someone who has a drink problem, that being someone who drinks too much too often. And because one in 10 people in western societies are alcoholics, many of us will also know of someone who not consumes too much, but also displays some or all of the alcoholic characteristics above.

The really sad fact about so many alcoholics is that they themselves do not really want to be the way they are. They certainly don't intend to drag others down with them, but they can't seem to help themselves. It is highly unlikely that an alcoholic can stop drinking on his own, which is why there are support groups and fellowships everywhere set up specifically to help those who are ready to help themselves.

Quitting - Heavy Drinkers!

If you're a pretty popular person among your family and friends, and have a reasonably good lifestyle apart from the drinking issue, then you know what you have to do about it if it bothers you and your loved ones. Just like quitting smoking, it will take a bit of effort and withdrawal, but it can be done so long as you want it enough. Remember though, just because you drink too much now, doesn't automatically mean you're an alcoholic, so you may even have the luxury to moderate over time.

Quitting - Alcoholics!

Are you always drinking, or thinking about drinking in between sessions? Does your life seems to go from bad to worse no matter how hard you try to get on the right path? Is getting drunk more of a priority for you than getting dinner or making an appointment? Do you always seem to be in some kind of conflict with people, places, and things? Are you unhappy more often than not? And if you really think about it, do you suffer from shame, remorse, and guilt, whenever you reflect on your life or current behaviour? If you live for the juice and can relate to any of these questions, then there's a good chance you have more than just a drink problem. It's likely that you are an alcoholic, or at best, a borderline alcoholic.

There are Solutions - but you have to want them!

Alcoholics do get sober, and not only do they manage to plug the jug, but they also manage to stay stopped and go on to live a serene and purposeful life of sobriety. There are no magic solutions here, and it does require effort from the individual. Once they take ownership of their problem, then the foundation for recovery is set. When an alcoholic can finally come to accept that there is nothing, repeat nothing, in their life that a drink can make better, then the door to recovery has opened.

Article by Andy Maingam: Are you concerned about your drinking or the drinking of someone close to you? There are solutions for problem drinkers and full blown alcoholics, found either in Alcoholics Anonymous or many of the Alternatives to AA setup specifically to help folks put a plug in the jug or moderate their drinking to sensible levels. The Power of Your Mind: What is Hypnosis?

If you are wondering what is Hypnosis after all, and if it can prove to be any good for your personality and life, let me tell you that the power of your mind is something that can sometimes make the unimaginable things possible. You can achieve things that you never thought you could, only if you knew how to use hypnotherapy in the right way.

The Earlier Beliefs

Even through the recent past many people took hypnosis to be something mystical and mysterious. Sometimes it has been considered to be black magic as well! But what is hypnosis in reality?

Today there are hundreds of parapsychologists, psychoanalysts and other experts who are studying the human mind to find out its real scope and range of power. All these people have stated some very interesting and unbelievable facts with regards to what your mind can achieve for you through hypnosis.

Hypnosis for Everything

Hypnosis can be used to help you with almost anything that you feel is too tough for you to achieve. For example, if you are a student and are finding it hard to study a particular lesson, hypnosis can make your studies appear like a piece of cake for you. You can easily learn something in a matter of few minutes that you couldn’t learn through days.

At the same time, we often find it very difficult when we are trying to remember something. You may have seen doctors and mind experts using hypnosis to get that information from you. Hypnosis allows your subconscious mind to assume full control, and lets it operate your systems. Our subconscious mind is much more powerful than the conscious mind that we use on our own will.

Making Your Life Better

And there is a lot that you can do if you are able to control your subconscious mind. Consider trying to give up an addiction that may have been causing you a huge amount of trouble, like smoking, drinking, and so on. In fact, giving up smoking has been using the hypnotherapy methods a lot these days.

Simple meditation and self hypnosis can be the first step towards enhancing the power of your mind. The rest comes with time, discipline and practice. The more you make your mind work, the more power it will gain. Most of us use a very small fraction of our mind, and it might be a good thing to start thinking about utilizing the whole brain to make our lives better.

Therefore consider hypnosis as a friend, and learn how to enhance the power of your mind, and there can be much more on the plate for you than you have ever imagined!

Teach Your Kids To Be Environmentally Responsible

The “greening of America” has become chic these days, and evidence of this consists in the types of commercials we see on television. Television commercials usually have a similar cast of characters. For those with a family setting, there is invariably a cute, precocious, know-it-all kid, a mother who likes to shop, shop, shop, and a father who isn’t too bright. Occasionally mother isn’t too bright either, but the kid always is. “Kids know best,” seems to be the subliminal message being sent here.

Environmental commercials are no different. I recently saw one of Mastercard’s commercials. To paraphrase their end line, “Son teaching parents about the value of the environment, priceless.”

I just wanted to throw something at the TV.

In real life, it is the job of the parents to teach their kids how to be environmentally responsible, not the other way around.

And there are a lot of materials provided for parents to enable them to both learn about how to protect the environment, and teach that philosophy to their children.

Perhaps the most basic piece of philosophy to impart is, “Don’t litter.” Indeed, it seems like very few children, especially boys, are taught to make the effort to cross their rooms to place garbage directly in a trash basket. Rather, they leave their wrappers and their plates and other garbage either on their desks or on the floor around their bed, and mother comes along and cleans up after them. They thus learn that they never have to clean up for themselves – maid, girlfriend, or wife will always be there to do it for them.

If your child is involved in a science fair at school, don’t wait for him or her to come home and tell you all about it, but rather get involved. Don’t do all the work, of course, but learn with your child, in the parenting role.

Kids learn best by example. Don’t tell your child not to litter, then litter yourself. When you’re taking your child into a grocery store, and you see some litter on the ground, pick it up and deposit it in the appropriate receptacle. (You can do that even if you don’t have any impressionable young minds with you!) Clean up your own living area, before telling your children to clean theirs. If you are “greening” your home, make sure your children know why you’re doing what your doing, such as exchanging damp wash cloths for paper towels at dinner time, separating out recyclables, and so on.

It’s the parent’s job to teach the kids these things, not the other way around.

Need help? Try starting in the heart of your home with these tips on going green in the kitchen or learning about all the different ways to recycle.

Offshore Credit Cards

Offshore Credit Cards
By: Geoff Thomas
Until a recently, the typical offshore investor did not have access to the payment convenience and flexibility associated with a credit card–at least not from the standpoint of accessing and spending the money he or she had safely placed offshore. Consider the predicament of yesterday's offshore investors seeking to access smaller amounts of money residing in their offshore bank accounts–say, under $10,000. If those individuals wanted to use offshore funds to make a purchase while living in North America or traveling abroad, they would have to personally withdraw funds from their offshore bank or have money wired to bank accounts where they lived.
Offshore credit cards have greatly facilitated the use of money held in offshore accounts. Offshore institution-branded Visa and MasterCard credit cards have ushered in a whole new realm of payment flexibility and convenience for today's offshore investor, but they are products that still require careful consideration and research. How do they work and what do they cost? How secure and private are they? What are the possible pitfalls and ramifications associated with using these cards?
How they work
Offshore credit cards share the same characteristics as ones in your own Country. They all carry a Visa or MasterCard label, are accepted at more than 14 million locations worldwide and provide cash advances at several hundred thousand automatic teller machines and banking institutions around the world.
Despite their similarities, a significant difference exists between domestic and offshore credit cards. The vast majority of reputable offshore credit cards are "secured" cards. They require offshore investors to provide a security deposit with their application for the card and therefore do not require offshore investors to go through credit checks.
To increase a credit line, investors simply need to increase the amount of their security deposit by the appropriate factor, either by sending a draft or by wiring funds to the card company. The requirement for a security deposit contrasts with a domestic credit card and effectively renders these products not credit cards per se. They are rather hybrid cards that access a line of credit that is fully secured with one's own money. Most of the card companies do not refer to their products as "credit cards" but either as "offshore cards" that provide the "benefits and acceptance of a Visa or MasterCard" or "offshore cards" that provide investors with access to "offshore collateral investment accounts."

Selecting Bedding For A Dorm

When you initially start faculty you have a ton of things to think about. If you're entering into a dorm or school sponsored residence, you may not have to bring a lot of within the way of furniture. You'll have a desk and a bed already provided for you, however you'll have to get things like lamps, electronics, and dorm area bedding. This stuff do not have to cost a lot of money, however make sure you place some thought into them before you buy.

After I bought dorm room bedding for school, I did not think about what I was purchasing. In the end, I wish I had selected something different. The problem wasn't that it wasn't warm, because it was, and it wasn't that it did not fit my bed. The matter was the color. If you think that you are not going to have accidents, you must think again. Most of these accidents can be things that others do, and you'll finish up with a discolored comforter that makes you feel uncomfortable each night when you lay down to go to sleep. When you buy dorm room bedding, make positive you get a dark color.

Additionally remember to get dorm space bedding that's straightforward to clean. You do not want something that has to be dry-cleaned or you're going to find yourself spending a ton of money on cleaning, and you may have a hard time finding someone close by who can do it for you. You do not have to lay our a fortune of cash to induce good dorm space bedding, and you actually will be sensible to travel with something that goes in the laundry machine. Also remember that although you'll need one thing that is terribly bulky, it might not fit in your dorms laundry machines. You don't need something you've got to haul across city to get washed.

One last thing to consider when shopping for dorm space bedding is that you should understand what you are getting before you go. If your faculty doesn't let you know what size your bed will be, make sure you ask. Do not assume you recognize what size bed you are getting, or you will end up with a ton of dorm space bedding that merely doesn't fit your bed. This can be a huge trouble and an enormous waste of cash on your half when money is one thing you really should be worried about.

Getting the Best Price for Your Home Includes Landscaping for Curb Appeal

If you own a home, then sooner or later you are going to be ready to sell that home. Maybe you've already sold a home or two. People tend to move more often than our parents did.

There are a lot of things that go into getting the best possible price for your home, but the very first thing your home needs is curb appeal. When a prospective buyer, or a realtor for that matter, pulls up in front of your home, they immediately form an opinion about your house. Fair or not, that's what people do. You can have the most beautiful home in the city, but if prospective buyers don't get a super positive feeling about your house the minute they lay eyes on it, they are going to enter and view the rest of your house with a negative impression.

Fixing that problem is easy enough to do.

When people pull up in front of your house there are two things they see. A house, and the landscaping in front of that house. If the landscaping is unattractive, the house will appear to be unattractive. Landscaping for curb appeal does not cost a lot of money, it's simply a matter of making sure the landscaping is neat, with well defined edges, and colorful. But when landscaping for curb appeal, the most important thing you need to do is to raise the beds with topsoil. Of course you have to do this before you plant.

Plants do much better in raised beds, and the plants in the beds really stand out. In order to raise the beds around your house you do not have to buy expensive stones and build retaining walls. Just establish the outline of the planting beds, cut an edge into the soil with a spade, and fill the planting beds with approximately ten inches of good rich topsoil. You'd be amazed at how much you can raise a planting bed without any type of retention.

Here are two more things you don't need:

Plastic edging. It's expensive, a lot of work to install, and it never stays in place. You can cut an edge with a spade and your landscape will actually look better. Then you can make the bed a little larger any time you need to.

The other thing you definitely do not need is weed control fabric. The stuff just doesn't work. The weeds grow right on top of the fabric, then root through the fabric making it even harder to keep your beds weed free. You'll find a really good article on weed control on my website.

When landscaping for curb appeal, plant placement and selection is very important. In a corner bed you need a centerpiece. I like Canadian Hemlock because they are evergreen and provide an excellent background for more colorful plants. In front of the Hemlock you can use a bright colored evergreen like Gold Thread Cypress, but don't use too many. Usually three is all you want. Around the backside of the same bed you can use a darker evergreen like Taxus or even a flowering shrub that you keep trimmed down low like Weigela. Lots of colors are fine, but don't stagger the colored plants in your landscape, use them in groupings, and be careful not to use too many in any one grouping. When you use more than three of any colored plant they lose their effectiveness. You are adding them for contrast, and when used sparingly they look much better.

There are lots of landscaping photos on my website that will give you a lot of good ideas.

In front of a house I like to use an arc of medium height plants like Blue Girl Holly, then put a couple of taller plants behind the arc. When landscaping for curb appeal you want the landscape to stair step toward the house. In other words, the lawn is the bottom step, the raised bed is step two, low growing plants step three and so on.

If you are re-landscaping an older home you probably should start with a sledge hammer before you do anything else and bust out the sidewalk to the front door. Builders put in the ugliest sidewalks in the world, and they usually are hard to maneuver as you walk toward the front door. Once you have the old sidewalk removed, let your imagination run wild. Remember, you are landscaping for curb appeal, and there is no better way to establish ultimate curb appeal than with a beautiful curved walk that gently winds its way to the front door. Once again, there are photos of such sidewalks on my website, and you'll see what wonderful landscaping opportunities they present.

The last step in landscaping for curb appeal is to create an interesting shaped raised bed in the front yard. Fill this bed with spring flowering bulbs, and annual flowers for the summer. If your house is going to be on the market in the fall, add some chrysanthemums for a burst of fall color.

So what's the best benefit of landscaping for curb appeal? You'll gain great experience so you can make sure your new home is landscaped just the way you want it!
